Second prototype

As stated in my planning for 2006, I want to create prototypes of at least three new game ideas so that I have something to choose from when deciding what my next game will be. I developed my first one in December and am now working on the second one.

Thursday, I sat down to come up with new game ideas. It went quicker than I had expected. I doodled a bit on a piece of paper and within minutes I had my first idea. Over the next half hour or so, I came up with about five more. The only one I thought was good enough to turn into a prototype was the very first idea I had. It has something to do with a bouncing ball. Well, actually, that’s basically the whole idea: a bouncing ball. It’s golden, don’t you think? ;-)

I worked a bit on the prototype yesterday and today and now I have… a bouncing ball! I also adjusted my opinion about some details of the gameplay. That’s one of those good things about prototypes: it’s much easier to find out what works and what doesn’t.
